Chevrolet has announced it will be auctioning off the very first COPO Camaro drag car at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, AZ auction Friday January 29th.
Serial number 2016COPO001 will be sold to the highest bidder and all proceeds will go to The United Way. The COPO Camaro is a purpose-built drag racer that competes in the NHRA Stock Eliminator class. Its new style was influenced by Courtney Force. The drivetrain is unique to the car, and features a 350 racing engine with a Whipple 2.9-liter supercharger.
Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, commented on the sale, saying, “This is a special opportunity to purchase the first of the sixth generation, 2016 COPO Camaro while also helping such a great cause.”
The car is expected to cross the stage at about 7pm.
